Abstract

This issue contains two articles on sequential decision making and dynamic programming, and two on military applications. Lim, Bearden, and J. C. Smith extend a typical search model to consider multiattribute options, while Bickel and J. E. Smith develop a novel method for finding the optimal policy in an oil exploration problem. Ewing, Tarantino, and Parnell describe an application of decision analysis that guided part of the U.S. Base Realignment and Closure program, and Klimack and Kloeber apply decision analysis to develop recommendations for improving the U.S. Armys basic training program.
