Abstract

To achieve smooth delivery of real-time traffic in heterogeneous mobile networks, QoS-aware MIPv6 handoff is desirable. Considering that different QoS models may be applied in the traffic path, our previously-proposed QoS Agent-assisted MIPv6 handoff provides a flexible and efficient solution to this diversity. This paper presents performance evaluation results for two schemes of QoS-aware MIPv6 handoff: the simple integration of MIPv6 and QoS schemes and our QoS Agent-assisted scheme. Simulation results show that the QoSAgent-assisted scheme is able to minimize the QoS configuration latency during handoff, and it simultaneously supports multiple QoS schemes.
