An extension of variable precision rough set model is proposed based on dominance relation instead of indiscernibility relation, which can deal with possible inconsistency from decision tables with preference attributes, and obtain probabilistic decision rules made up of preference actions. Applying these rules, a preference model from example decision systems is inferred. Research results demonstrate that the minimal set of probabilistic decision rules obtained from a preferential attribute decision table through dominance relation have a smaller number of stronger rules and use a smaller number of conditions. Key words: Variable precision rough set; decision tables with preference attribute; dominance relation; preferential probabilistic rules.
