As multihoming refers to a situation where a node can choose between several paths, the MANET networks that are mobile networks without infrastructure offer naturally a multihoming feature. It is managed at the network level by the routing protocol. Multihoming capacity is also present in the IETF transport protocol SCTP. In this work we consider multihoming both at transport and at network level. We focus on the SCTP protocol over AODV ad hoc networks1. After the presentation of the multihoming dysfunction, we propose a cross layer interface in order to achieve efficient combined multihoming. The proposed approach is examined through simulations. The benefit of multihoming is potentially greater goodput of the session in case of network failures. The obtained results show the advantage of multihoming with multiple fast retransmission policy.
