Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a technology that has been widely used in many areas. This paper proposes a framework that uses XML document to minimize the number of components used in a Web-based application. This decrease in component number is achieved by replacing subclasses with XML document that contains the user interface information which helps create the user interface. The proposed method is applied on a Lecturer's Publication Monitoring System (LPMS) project and a comparison between the framework and normal implementation is done based on this project.
