Abstract

A new space diversity scheme for frequency selective channels is proposed. Split-ST-OFDM makes use of split processing to improve the performance of regular ST-OFDM. The novel approach is shown to be more general than the case where the Hadamard transform is used to explore the multipath diversity inherent to the frequency selective channel. Computer simulations show large gains of the proposed scheme over regular ST-OFDM for the case of terrestrial digital TV channels, at the expense of a very low additional computational complexity.
