Abstract

An iterative algorithm for the design of two-dimensional (2D) quadrantally symmetric FIR filter with peak constrained magnitude response based on eigenfilter is presented. We further considered the design of 2D FIR filter without explicitly transition band bandedges specification, which allows the trade-off between the peak design error with the transition band bandwidth of the 2D filter. The eigenfilter formulation further allows the proposed algorithm to incorporate time domain constraints simultaneously. Various design examples are presented to illustrate the versatility of the proposed 2D filter design method. Although we have not proven the convergence of the proposed algorithm, it is found to converge efficiently in all the simulations.
