A Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is an infrastructureless and dynamically changing topology wireless network. Due to the movement of nodes in the network, path from a source node to a destination mode frequently breaks. Control packets for reconstructing a new path are flooded in the network increasing network traffic. Furthermore, data packets are either lost or re-transmitted (depending upon the application being used) when the path is broken down. In this paper, we consider and construct a detour path for table driven routing protocols for MANET. When the path is broken and if a detour path exists, the packets are routed via detour nodes. We have simulated our proposal using ZHLS and found that the packets delivery ration is higher in our proposed method than the traditional ZHLS routing protocol.
