BNEB has better collision resolution performance than the conventional DCF with BEB when BNEB stations only contend with themselves. BNEB stations use larger contention window size than DCF stations when they attempt first transmission of a frame or when the collision occurs. Therefore, when BNEB stations contend with DCF stations using BEB, the number of successful transmission of BNEB stations is less than DCF stations using BEB. To solve this problem, we propose a fast backoff counter reduction (FBCR) algorithm which enhances the BNEB. We perform simulations under saturation condition, and the results show that FBCR yield better performance than the conventional DCF in terms of the number of successful frame transmission ratio.
