An illumination estimation method based on the dichromatic reflection model is proposed. Unlike most previous dichromatic methods, no explicit image segmentation into regions of uniform surface reflectance or highlight areas is required. An estimate is obtained by optimizing a cost function on the color of the illuminating light.
