Abstract

Studies show that CS enrollments are dropping. Reasons for the drop vary from the perception that there is a lack of jobs and outsourcing to misconceptions about the computing profession. Recommendations to increase enrollments include industry alignment and multi / cross disciplinary programs. EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and data storage, believes that CS programs need to align with industry. EMC created the EMC Academic Alliance Program to educate students on the fastest growing segment of IT: Storage. Offering courses in storage technologies will benefit students and prepare them for the emerging roles of the 21st century.
