In this paper, an integrated model of fuzzy data envelopment analysis (FDEA) and computer simulation for finding optimal solution among proposed alternatives is presented. By noting the importance of flexible manufacturing system (FMS), variable market and reduction in product life cycle, in this study solving the problem of operators' allocation in CMS is considered. In this case a computer simulation model which considers various operators layout is developed with respect to the purpose of this study. Data which obtained of running simulation model is fuzzified to asymmetrical triangular fuzzy number. Then, FDEA is utilized to assess simulation alternatives. Because of this fact that a DMU with a simple radial efficiency score of one is not always ideal, FDEA ranking of DMUs are clustered by Fuzzy C-Means method. Each of the clusters indicates a degree of desirability for operator allocation. Previous studies only utilize multivariate analysis methods and simulation, whereas this study uses an integrated simulation-FDEA approach and fuzzy C-Means, fuzzy indicators and flexible simulation modeling. Also, previous CMS studies consider only one type of product whereas this study considers multi product CMS modeling through simulation. Moreover, more robust CMS assessment indicators are used in the proposed model. A practical case study illustrated the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
