Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of the actual cost of a Workflow Management System that is implemented in order to support a business process in a company. In order to specify this cost, we employ the IDEF0 function modelling method in combination with the Activity-Based Costing (ABC) technique. A workflow is comprised of the activities which are assigned a cost in the context of the implementation of a Workflow Management System. This cost per activity is analysed to its particular elements that refer to all aspects of the system, that is, hardware, software and organisational resources' costs.
