Abstract

During the past decade Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have aided political parties and candidates on their election campaigns. Electronic electioneering or simply eElectioneering has changed the way campaigns are conducted in many ways. Not surprisingly, eElectioneering has attracted increasing interest from the research community as well. In this paper we review the relevant scientific literature, in order to identify common research themes and methods applied. The results indicate that researchers direct their studies on analyzing the tools used by the candidates and the political parties, especially websites. The most common method of information retrieval for their research is by using questionnaires.
