Traditionally, most mesh-simplification algorithms have focused on rendering complex objects with a large number of polygons. These algorithms prove to be ineffective for rendering large collections of simple models. The authors' approach relies on a new algorithm for simplifying city-sized collections of 2.5D buildings, with the goal being urban legibility.
