Abstract

In current mobile applications platforms, lack of security is one of the main obstacles to developing mobile commerce. Electronic commerce applications demand flexibility, personalization and optimized of security systems [1]. Low weight encryption algorithms must be used to provide applications with an appropriate degree of security. In this article we deal with the programming of secure applications using Java programming language. Since Java does not provide any cryptographic API for programming applications for mobile devices, we analyze cryptographic solutions proposed by third parties. We discuss the Bouncy Castle solution and the best encryption algorithms for low power devices.
