This article discusses the opportunity for end users to manage system infrastructure. We describe a prototype called EDIT (Event Definer for Infrastructure Tailorability) that provides an interface for the system infrastructure in a telecommunication company. The design of the prototype focuses on simplicity and makes use of well known techniques and standard systems employed in the company. Our conclusion is that it is possible, by small means, to provide end users with opportunities to manage system infrastructure. This can be achieved by structuring the application in a way that clearly separates use, tailoring and further development of the tailoring capabilities. The precondition is that there is a culture in the company that supports cooperation between end users and developers.
