Abstract

An improved Pulse-Coupled Neural Network (PCNN), which has two modules with different inner processing mechanisms, was introduced and applied to segment an IKONOS image with different parameters. Results show that the improved PCNN can segment the image in a parallel and multiscale way, and the output image is easier to analyse than with the basic PCNN.
