Abstract

This paper presents static load and performance models for Ethernet LAN and WLAN. Relevant problems of the Internet protocol stack (OSI layers 1-4) are considered, namely identification of mean loads and modeling of wired and wireless LANs with the help product-form queuing analysis. This work appeared in scope of the network design environment CANDY as one of multiple contributions dealing with optimization heuristics, design and dimensioning of wired and wireless local networks.
