Abstract

This paper serves as an introduction to concurrent and distributed object-oriented systems. This is a relatively new area, with few commercially available systems. Even those systems that are available have not yet stood up to the 'test of time'. Available information on those few systems that are commercially available, as well as several research efforts, is summarized and analyzed.
