Abstract

This paper introduces a data modeling design pattern that can help organize and persist information of a catalog in any Relational database management System (RDBMS). The catalog would not be bound to a specific business context and does not need any code maintenance to be re-deployed in different business contexts. Hence this pattern describes a universal electronic catalog. The catalog supports unlimited number of categories and their attributes, and facilitates easy searches and comparisons of stored items.
