Abstract

Advances in music technology and software allow composers and music producers to achieve incredible auditory results using their personal computers. This project proposes an interactive network application for cooperative composition for musicians and composers. The proposed Internet Mixer comprises an Internet application for mixing down tracks with the participation of many users that comprise an online music community. The tracks are evaluated by the members of the community and their rankings indicate whether they should be produced and distributed via the web. Digital signatures are used for each track, while music interchange, mixing and online evaluation are some of the functions of the system. A tree-based structure handles the different versions of each song, which are stored in a database.
