This work seeks to provide some important Internet Protocol (IP) security issues. From the point of view of multimedia networks, security is important to be recognized for current and future users and implements. In the first part, some protocols are presented. For both IPv4 and IPv6, the choice of Encapsulating Security Payload (ESP) protocol and Authentication Header (AH) is offered. Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol is included, too. The next parts cover frameworks for basic security concepts and security technology. Also, infrastructure security for future mobile networks is pointed out, because they will be open to different services and service providers. Finally, network operator's security requirements together with requirements from user's, network's and service's perspective conclude the presentation.
