Speech segmentation is a very difficult problem, because of continuous nature of speech. Segmenting speech into various units (phonemes, syllables, and acoustic atoms) is essential in many applications. Choosing the best method of segmentation must be preceded by evaluation of its performance. This paper is a study of various numerical measures for automatic segmentation performance.
