Abstract

We describe the technical background necessary for working with real-world email data as well as the process of how to transform it into a social-network representation for research purposes. We demonstrate how to use the CEMAP feature in ORA social-network analysis software, which operationalizes the entire process for researchers with, or without, in-depth computer expertise. A detailed example is provided to show the steps involved in the process and to highlight the various add-on features of CEMAP, such as anonymization and removing duplicate emails.
