This paper presents a model for the detection and restoration of line scratches from color movies. Light diffraction through the color film support allows the modeling of both the shape and the color of the defects, while perception laws enable their automatic detection and removal. The quality of the restored images is high, while the implemented algorithms are computationally inexpensive and completely user's independent.
