Abstract

An intuitive display method was developed to enable a user to select and visualize corresponding volumes of interest in combined digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) and automated breast ultrasound images. Details of this method are described including experiments performed to assess the accuracy of the calibration for coordinate transformation. The distance between an object in the ultrasound images and the center of a volume of interest transferred to the ultrasound images from DBT is 4 mm after first stage calibration and 0.8 mm after second stage calibration which corrects for experimentally determined offsets. The display is being used in reader studies, and preliminary results of those studies will be discussed.
