Wireless personal area networks (WPAN) systems for the communication in the indoor environment have been developed according to the growth of the ubiquitous technology. IEEE 802.15.4a is a standard which describes the indoor communication systems for the ultra-low complexity and power consumption. Implementation of PHY for IEEE 802.15.4a employs ultra-wide band (UWB) technologies which have the advantage of accuracy as compared with other communication systems because it uses discrete impulse signal. In this paper, it focuses on developing MATLAB models for IEEE 802.15.4a standard and the performance evaluation of these models. Implementation of UWB PHY using MATLAB is important to design the commercial modem by performance verification for various communication environments. From the performance analysis with simulation results by adding additive white Gaussian channel (AWGN) noise, the rationality of this model is verified.
