In this paper we propose the use of cognitive radio technology in a wireless personal area network environment. We investigate the performance of cooperative sensing of the activity of primary users by anumber of secondary users equipped with single-channel cognitive radios, and show that even a small number of sensing nodes provides reasonably accurate sensing, subject to certain limitations.
