Ontologies are key components in the development of the SemanticWeb, as they provide a shared understanding of a domain. However,acquiring the knowledge to construct ontologies is a costly taskthat requires much time and many resources. This work describesOntOAIr, a semi-automatic construction method of lightweightontologies from document collections. The OntOAIr method usessimplified representations of documents, an adaptation of theFrequent Itemset-based Hierarchical Clustering algorithm (FIHC), andontological engineering techniques. We present experimental resultsand we describe applications that use the constructed ontologies
