Abstract

We propose an improved seamless image editing method based on the Poisson equation. By adding an additional inner Dirichlet boundary condition and magnify large Laplacian values corresponding to the object’s true contour in the edited region, the method can insert objects into background of the target image seamlessly, and solve the color inconsistency problem caused by boundary influence. The proposed method does not require precise definition of the object contour, but only needs to choose a rough region of the inserted object and the target location for automatic processing. Experimental results show that the method can nicely insert objects from a different image or a different region of the same image into a targeted background area without causing color inconsistency.
