Abstract

Welcome to the Seventh International Conference on Generative Programming and Component Engineering (GPCE'08). GPCE provides a venue for researchers and practitioners interested in foundational techniques for enhancing the productivity, quality, and time-to-market in software development that stems from deploying standard components and automating program generation. This year, GPCE is co-located with OOPSLA, the premier conference on object-oriented technologies, nicely complementing the component engineering aspect of GPCE. This volume contains the papers presented at the GPCE conference as well as abstracts of the invited talks. 55 submissions were received from Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Each paper received 3 to 5 reviews from the program committee. Papers were discussed during a week-long electronic program committee meeting. As a result of this meeting, 17 papers were selected for the conference. The conference program also includes keynotes by Andrew Fano and Erik Meijer, who work large scale systems integration and programming language design, respectively.
