Abstract

As e-commerce always suffers from the uncertainty, cheats and attacks, concepts of trust and risk are brought in to enhance on-line business. Several models or frameworks for dealing with uncertainty and threats in cyberspace have been proposed in the literature, but few explicitly consider trust and risk as two separate factors that influence different aspects of on-line interactions independently. This paper presents a novel framework which considers trust and risk as two key dimensions to strengthen interactions in e-commerce. Moreover, a novel method of trust evaluation is proposed to represent confidence in the success of a transaction. And a new method of risk assessment is also presented to indicate impacts on assets and resources. Finally, simulation results also indicate that our framework is able to enhance interactions in e-commerce more powerfully, efficiently and rationally.
