An increasingly important trend in complex system simulation is the appropriate design of component integration approaches for multidisciplinary distributed modeling and simulation of complex systems or hybrid systems. In this paper, a HLA (High Level Architecture) based collaborative simulation approach is presented for the forging machine and manipulator system. With the combination of intelligent reasoning techniques and service composition techniques, the proposed simulation system can be more reusable and flexible. As an integration of the RTI, the interface objects, the simulation federates and other support components, the developed parallel distributed computation environment provides the communication and synchronization for heterogeneous simulation subsystems to run as a whole virtual production process.
