Reading a large number and many kinds of books, or "extensive reading", is desirable for people who want to learn an interdisciplinary field. However, it is difficult for learners to continue the extensive reading individually for a long term due to the publication of too many books: 17,000/ year in Japan (see Fig.1). If a community of such learners united by shared interests can be formed, it is expected that each learner can be affected mutually in reviewing a lot of materials and finding books suitable for one's interests. The purpose of this research is to propose a method regarding how to form and activate extensive readers' community and to develop a proto-type community site supporting a community for extensive reading by using information sharing techniques.
