We have been developing a mimamori-care system to monitor persons with dementia (PWD) in group homes based on the real world-oriented approach. This approach is devised by the expansion of a creativity-supported framework between researchers and caregivers. A new finding was acquired from a joint collaboration of the opinion of caregivers and the insight of researchers. Initially, several technical problems were solved in the virtual group home laboratory at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Subsequently, we introduced the system into a real group home, and at present, we continue to improve the system by analyzing the daily events at the site. Some useful effects of this system in dementia care have already been revealed; hence, caregivers can intervene in the problems faced by PWDs on time, and they can support PWD's independence without engaging in excessive care.
