Abstract

Health Information Services deal with repository, retrieval and make use of medical information in order to improve service quality and reduce cost. Medical staff, administrative staff and patients are typical users of such services. Behavior of these adopters is influenced by technology and user characteristics, social and organizational environment. This paper evaluates the determinants of Health Information Service adoption among users and analyzes the relationship of these determinants with the behavior of the users. Moreover, a taxonomy of factors that influence technology usage is provided. According to this taxonomy user and service characteristics, social and intermediary factors like usefulness and ease of use influence health service adoption.
