Abstract

This work presents a solution for the cone-beam Computer Tomography. The modified Feldkamp reconstruction algorithm is implemented as the parallel pipelined structure. The modifications of the original algorithm: parallelization and pipelining of the reconstruction, were formalized. FPGA design of the parallel pipelined backprojector implements all steps of the reconstruction from cone-beamprojections: filtering, weighted backprojection, real-time geometry computations. Due to the formal specification and parameterized VHDL implementation the FPGA design is easy modifiable and scalable. Evaluation results show that the speed of the FPGA implementation is significantly grater than PC solutions.
