Abstract

Most innovation is incremental, which can be very creative but usually on a small scale. However, radical novel creative advances, the paradigm shifts, do not arise out of nothing. They typically arise from a novel combination of existing technologies to solve an existing problem, a problem that no one had previously thought to address using those technologies.
