Abstract

Quality assurance (QA) is one of the most misunderstood, highly desired, yet inconsistently defined, organizational entities in the data processing industry today. There is an increasing number of articles and literature available on the subject. Senior management finds it very attractive. In spite of this, however, few commercial data processing organizations have successfully assimilated effective QA programs into their organizations. This paper describes such a program by the Information Services Group (ISG) of Chemical Bank. Particular emphasis will be placed on the organizational defintion of QA and the philosophy of its operation.
