Abstract

The use of electronic devices in healthcare can be used in the form of an ad hoc network to aid in the transfer and accuracy of personal health information. The devices of an hoc network can be used in three different modes: Standalone mode, Huddle mode, and Roaming mode, all of which will be discussed further for each of the scenarios. Various access control situations exist and are discussed specific to each healthcare personnel in each scenario, as well as various privacy and security issues relating to the transfer of medical records electronically. This paper outlines the use of the Meditech database currently used in many healthcare environments
