Abstract

The increasing interest in cellular automata has created the need for faster machines to execute such programs. PE–SCAM is a fine–grained SIMD architecture using a mesh of processors, with each processor corresponding to a single cell of the automata. Shift routing permits the use of arbitrarily large neighborhoods in cellular programs.
