Abstract

An approach for the evaluation of the average slope of thestraight line strokes in signatures and handwritten text isdescribed. It is based on the properties of the Fourier Transformwhich allow accumulating energy of pixels lying on straight linesof same slope alongside a single straight line in the frequencydomain. The slope of the latter determines straightforwardly thestroke slope since both slopes differ in π/2. The approach doesnot require image binarization.
