Abstract

Trajectory data are widely used in location-dependent systems (e.g., traffic control systems, meteorology monitoring systems, mobile computing systems, etc.) For these application systems, to find similar trajectories of moving objects is an important and interesting issue. In this paper, a data model of trajectories based discrete grid cells is given, and the similarity between trajectories is defined as a new distance function. Furthermore, we propose an efficient algorithm for shape-based similarity k nearest neighbor query. Simulation experiments show the proposed query processing method has better performance than that of existent methods.
