Abstract

The Internet key exchange (IKE) protocol is a protocol with which two communication peers can authenticate each other, get a new shared key and build IPSec SA. It has been widely used in mobile IPv6, router systems, IPv6 VPN and 3G core network elements. IKEv2 significantly improves the communication efficiency and security when compared with IKEv1. This article introduces the IKEv2's mechanism, particularly compares the security of IKEv1 and IKEv2.
