Abstract

Following the last decade's continuous progress of wireless and associated technological development a clear market gap for addressing the need for wireless broadband access (WBA) came into reality at the turn of century, promoted by the standard IEEE 802.16 known as WiMAX. Appearance of this timely technology push innovation brought a new hurdle and change to the telecom industry with the promise of a futuristic wireless Cybecity based telecom industry where we can reach virtually all our telecom needs and services through wireless data connectivity that may bring many new features such as low infrastructural investment, ultimate portability and mobility under a new umbrella. As always, a radical innovation at this scale cannot be implemented without practical complications including market resistance and tough competition from the existing systems from both fixed and mobile
