Abstract

A Web-based interior design application system, named Multiuser Interior Design (MID), is presented. Technologies from virtual reality (VR), the Web, and database are used to implement MID. It allows users to operate in the VR fashion, interacting with 3D virtual objects and spaces through a Web browser. Users can view and elaborate designs, examine furniture, and even place purchase orders of furniture. MID contains various features, including multiuser collaboration and concurrent display of multiple views of a scene. MID can be modified for other e-commerce purposes; many of the functions serve as a reusable framework.
