Abstract

In an industrial fabrication shop, such as pipe spool and steel fabrication, a product usually travels in the systems in the form of raw materials or components of the product. During the fabrication process, different components are assembled together to fabricate the final product. In this paper, to increase the accuracy of modeling fabrication processes, we propose a platform that can automatically model the raw materials and the assembly process of components of a product based on the unique features of a product. For this purpose, a Special Purpose Simulation (SPS) template for industrial fabrication is developed. The platform is used to develop a simulation based decision support system using a real case study of a pipe spool fabrication shop.
