Abstract

The multicarrier (MC) transmission technique was devised in the 1960's for voice band data transmission [1, 2]. Today there are two principle multi carriers' applications, one is for the high speed digital subscriber loop and the other is for the broadcasting of digital audio and video signals [3, 4, 5]. In this work the use of multi carriers for high-bit rate wireless applications are considered. The bit error rate (BER) performance of multi carriers with quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) and offset quadrature phase shift keying (OQPSK) [7] with guard interval in a fading environment is considered via the use of Monte Carlo simulation methods. BER results are presented for OQPSK using guard interval to immunity the multipath delay for frequency flat Rayleigh fading channels and for two-path fading channels in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN).
