Abstract

WiMax, based on IEEE 802.16 standard, is last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL. WiMax supports point-to-multipoint and mesh mode operations. In mesh mode every Subscriber Station can directly communicate with its neighbors without the help of Base Station. Enhancing the capability of WiMAX Mesh network is an important issue. A proper adaptive modulation enables a WiMAX system to optimize the throughput based on propagation conditions. TCP is reliable transport layer protocol and is widely used. This paper presents a simulation based comparative performance analysis of the five tcp variants namely Fack, Newreno, Reno, Sack1 and Vegas by using different modulation schemes.
